Happy Birthday Parker!

Yesterday was quite a poignant day for me. It was six years to the day that my water broke and it was time to go to the hospital to bring home our first baby, a precious little baby boy. The scenario was exactly the same. It was Sunday, and not just any ol Sunday. It was Super Bowl Sunday, same as yesterday. I remember vividly the food and drinks being passed around in my labor room, when I was not allowed to have one single bite of anything. Needless to say, Parker was a stubborn boy, and it took 34 hours of labor and a c-section to get him out. That is how his Birthday came to be on Monday instead of Sunday. I took a minute last night when I was tucking him in to tell him all about that special day 6 years ago. I told him how difficult it was, and let him know that he was worth every minute! He is such a special little boy, and he loves his Mommy so much! He is my little shadow no matter where I go, and is always ready to help Mommy cook. He is in Kindergarten this year, and can already read. He is so smart, and sometimes I can't believe the things he knows. I thank my Heavenly Father each and every day for not only Parker, but all of my Family. Today though, is Parker's day, and it brings back all the sweet memories of what we did on this day exactly 6 years ago. I can almost smell that sweet new baby smell, and feel the softness of his cheeks. I remember the soft downy hair all over his face and back. I remember the way I felt when he first opened his eyes and he gazed at me for the longest moment, and I knew he was sent especially for us from our Heavenly Father, and that he had a special plan here on Earth just for Parker. I look back over the years and I can barely remember all the hard times we went through with him. All of the illnesses, the developmental delay, the medical tests he had, it has all faded with time, and what I remember most is his accomplishments, his happy smile, and his love for his Family. I am so blessed to have been sent this precious little boy, and to that I say... Happy Birthday Parker!

Coming Soon....

I am such a slacker! I haven't updated my blog in so long, and I am so ashamed of myself! It has been a whirlwind around here since Christmas. I did get a new digital camera for Christmas and am looking forward to putting some new pictures up. Well, for updated news from us, today alone here is what we're dealing with. Parker has strep throat, and we have frozen busted pipes! Sounds like fun huh? Well the pipes are fixed, and Parker actually feels better today. Here is how I am trying to look at the blessings that I have as well... Today was a school holiday so Parker did not have to miss a day of school, I was already off from work, so I didn't lose a day of pay, and we have a great friend right down the road who happened to have everything to fix the pipes handy ( and the knowledge to do it). So the way I figured, it could have been much worse! We are now members of the newly formed "Jackson Branch". We had our first Sunday services yesterday. We are looking forward to being in a small branch and the challenges it will bring. I have been called as the 1st counselor in Primary, and Patrick is the 1st counselor in the Elders Quorum. We actually have about 14 active primary children, so it is a decent size, and we hope to grow by leaps and bounds. I started a new diet and exercise program with the new year. I lost 4 pounds the first week and have been too scared to weigh myself since then. I do notice a slight difference in the size of the "junk in the trunk" if you know what I mean. Also the stomach, or rolls as I call them are shrinking as well. I was instructed by my husband to lose as much weight as I wanted, but if I lose the the two B's (butt and boobs) I will be in big trouble! Well, hope everyone is having a great New Year, and I enjoyed seeing everyone during the holidays. Love and hugs to everyone!!

Blah, Blah, Blah

Ok, not the nicest title, I know, but I haven't posted anything new in a while, so I feel like I will be going on and on. We have had a crazy past 10 days. Patrick has been gone out of town almost constantly because of a terrible accident they had on one of their jobs in Jacksonville. They had a 7 story parking deck that was under construction collapse, trapping one of their workers underneath the rubble. It was 2 days later before they were able to pull him out. He lost his life and left a 5 and 7 year old without their Daddy. It really made me thankful for my Husband and that he comes home to us safely each day. It could have just as easily been him underneath there. The kids are diving us nuts! The whole "Santa Claus is watching" thing just isn't working for us. I think part of the behavior is because their Daddy wasn't here, maybe we will begin to see an improvement. We finally bought our Christmas tree tonight. I wasn't able to be there because I had to work, but there comes a time when you say "we either do it today, or it's not going to be worth all the trouble to put it up"! Lillie is absolutely amazed by all of the lights on people's houses this year. Each one we go by, no matter how much or how little it is decorated, she says "Mommy, look!" And I have to say back to her; "yeah, pretty!" or she says... "Mommy, say Yeah, pretty!" It is so cute to see her enjoying Christmas this year. Parker is eagerly awaiting Santa's arrival, and is being oh so unselfish. All he asked Santa for was a transformer. He keeps saying " I can't wait for Santa to bring me a transformer!" At any rate, I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas, and I love you all!

Scary Night!

I had a most unusual experience Sunday night. I had worked on Sunday afternoon until 10pm. I went home, went to bed, and was awoken by my phone ringing at 2:00am. It was the Hospital. Turns out I had been exposed to a patient that had bacterial meningitis, and I was told to come in immediately for "prophylactic" (meaning just in case) anticiotics! I was really freaked out needless to say. So, I went in and got my medicine. They told me that they don't really think we would catch it, but just to be on the safe side... I guess it's just the risk that we take by working in the medical field. But talk about a rude awakening!By the way, I dont' think I mentioned it, and some of you don't know, but I currently have a broken ankle. I twisted it one day (although I really don't specifically remember the incident) and it just kept hurting for about 10 days. I was walking around on it, with a lot of difficulty, so I finally went to see a Dr. Turns out I have 2 different fractures in there. Who in the world breaks their ankle and doesn't know it?!? At any rate, they have me in this gigantic boot thing for at least 4-8 weeks, and we will go from there. There's nothing I love more than a good challenge! Hope your week starts better than mine!

What A Day!

Poor Maddie is sick. It is around 10:30 pm and Maddie and I just got home from the Dr. She has had a cold all week, and today decided to spike a 101.4 temp. So, when I got off of work I came straight home, ate a quick dinner and took her to our local after hours clinic new in McDonough. (Fabulous place by the way, if anyone in our area ever needs it. Staffed by Scottish Rite Docs.) At any rate, the final diagnosis is bronchitis vs. pneumonia. She had some wheezing and "crackling" in the lungs so the Dr. was leaning more toward pneumonia, but couldn't tell for sure without a chest x-ray. So instead of giving my baby unecessary radiation, she prescribed a strong antibiotic that would work for either illness. See why I liked this place?! Anyway, after a couple of breathing treatments, 1 hour wait at the pharmacy, and 2 pukes in the car on the way home, we finally made it. She had a bath and is now snoozing quietly, just the way I like it. What can I say, it's never dull around here. Just when you start to get comfortable, WHAM! Oh well, it keeps thinga exciting. Love to all!

Finally!

I am now officailly a blogger! I made my first post and it worked! Yeah! I am actually very excited to be learning how to do this. Please visit often to watch me learn and grow. Feel free to offer me any tips you veteren bloggers have learned.
Okay, I hate to be the last person to do a new thing, and I feared I was becoming that person, so...Welcome to our Family's blog! I can't promise to always be witty, intelligent, or even coherent all of the time, but I will try my best to keep you up to date on our little Family. I also can't promise to have great pictures, cute clip art (Allison), or great downloads (Kim) as I am not at all computer savvy. I will promise however, to coerce my savvy Husband into doing those things for me.
With that said, allow me to introduce everyone. Theres me Aimee, A.K.A. Mommy, Wife extraordinaire, Medical Professional. Then there's Patrick, A.K.A. Daddy, Husband of the year, Safety Man. Then there's my Parker. Professional student (the Big K this year), and a real Ladies Man (especially Mommy). Next there's my beautiful Lillie. Spitting (blonde) image of her Mommy.
